CENTRAL QUEENS CLIPPERS SOCCER CLUB ~
House League Letter 2015
Please read carefully for changes to the 2015 season!
Welcome to all new and returning families for another soccer season!
This letter will be posted on our website should you need to refer to it throughout the season to answer any questions you might have:
www.centralqueenssoccer.pe.ca.
Central Queens Clippers Soccer Club is a non-profit organization run on the strength of its volunteers and sponsors. Hundreds of children rely on all of us to provide a well-run and happy environment in which they can learn and play soccer.
We would like to thank all of the volunteers who have worked hard to get the club and fields up and running. Our club was built on volunteers and can only succeed in meeting today’s requirements with your help.
Coaches/co-coaches are still needed at all House League Levels, so if you can help out, please contact our House League Coordinator (info below). We will supply you with a coaching manual full of drills and activities. You do not need experience to be a House League Coach, just a desire to help the kids learn and have fun.
If you’d like to help out in any other way during the season, please contact any member of the Executive (see website for a list of Executive members).
Thank you.
House League includes U4, U6, U8 and U10. Youth League is for the U12 and older players.
The Club needs to raise money each year so that we can continue to offer Grass Roots Soccer Development and much needed team supplies. If you have any ideas for fundraising, or would like to take the lead on this, please contact Lisa Langdale, House League Coordinator (see email below). Without your help, we will not be able to provide valuable grass roots soccer development programs like Futsal, Shooting Clinics, Goalie Clinics and Coaching Clinics.
Important Dates to Remember:
Monday June 1: House League Starts ***
As you all know, it was quite the winter and the fields are still snow covered (on April 30). If our start date needs to be pushed back, we will let you know. Our Field Supervisors are monitoring the conditions closely and we are all hoping for lots of sun.
July 31, August 1 & 2: CQ Competitive Tournament for U12 teams and up (plus U10 Clippers)
Monday August 3: No House League; everyone meets Wednesday the 5
th instead
Monday August 10: Last night for U4 (Rain date Wed. Aug. 12)
Saturday August 15: Wrap-up day for U6, U8 and U10 from 9 am - 12 pm. Bring a shirt to wear after turning in team jersey at the end of the day. (Rain date Sun. Aug. 16, 1 - 7pm)
*** If the season starts a week late due to field conditions, the season will be extended a week, meaning the last night for U4 would be Monday August 17 and Closing Tournament would be August 22.

Times and Fields:
U4 will play on Monday nights (using Wednesdays as a rain date if need be) on
ELLIS (on the left upon pulling into complex) from 6:00-6:45 pm. U4 will practice for 20 minutes and then have a 20 minute game.
U6 will play on Monday nights (using Wednesdays as a rain date if need be) on
BOYLE (behind Clubhouse) from 6:00-7:00 pm. U6 will practice for 25 minutes, take 5 min to regroup, and then have a 30 minute game.
U8 will play on Monday nights IN JUNE (using Wednesdays as a rain date if need be) on
HAYWARD (immediately on the right when pulling into complex) from 6:00-7:00 pm. U8 will begin meeting on Wednesdays, in addition to Mondays, beginning
July 8, same time and field. U8 will practice for 25 minutes, take 5 min to regroup, and then have a 30 minute game.
U10 will play on
HAYWARD. U10 will start 15 minutes later than previous years. U10’s new time will be 7:15-8:15. We hope this will alleviate some of the parking issues we have on Monday nights. U10 will begin meeting on Wednesdays, in addition to Mondays, beginning
July 8, same time and field.
Last year U10 participated in a successful interlocking schedule with Kensington, Summerside, Winsloe and Sherwood. We will participate in this schedule again, with the inclusion of Eliot River as well. The U10 schedule is still being finalized. When it is done, U10 parents/guardians will receive a link to the website with the U10 schedule information. There will be some away games played on Tuesdays and Thursdays, depending on the other clubs’ house league schedules.
Cancellation of House League: House League is usually only cancelled in the event of heavy rain or thunder and lightning. Usually time is short for these cancellations; please check your email, or the Club’s website at 5 pm if weather is questionable. Facebook is another great tool in getting the word out. “Like” our Facebook page for updates and information.
Teams:
Teams may change over the first two or three weeks as the coordinators and coaches evaluate skill levels and see what they can do to accommodate player requests. If you have a player request, please email it to your coordinator ASAP. Please explain to your child(ren) that teams might change in the first few weeks so that they understand.
Last year the Club initiated the split of genders beginning at the U6 level (separate boys and girls teams). We feel this was met with great success and will therefore continue this year.
Equipment:
Soccer cleats and shin pads are required for all players except U4; soccer cleats are optional for U4 only (they DO require shin guards). All players should wear knee high socks & shorts.
Team Jerseys will be issued to all players as a loaner only. Jerseys should not be put in the dryer.
Please ensure that all jerseys are returned to the club in good condition at the end of the season. If you still have a jersey from last year, please drop it off in the Hunter River Library drop box ASAP. Jerseys that are not returned to the Club add to our operating costs and in turn the fees charged.
Other Important Information:
- Please don’t leave your young child(ren) without letting the coach know where you are on the field. Your children need you there in case of injury or bathroom breaks and to see them progress.
- Pets are not allowed on the soccer field or in the clubhouse. We love pets, but not all children are accustomed to being around animals. For the safety of everyone, including your pet, please leave them at home. This is club policy.
- Please don’t let your child/ren (or any child) climb on the nets! If you see someone doing this, please tell them to stop. This is a safety issue.
- While our facility is not a designated “nut free space,” there are children who do have peanut allergies. Please be conscious and considerate of these allergies when at the soccer facility.
- Please park in designated parking areas. There is lots of parking all around the complex. Please leave Route 13 and the driveway clear for emergencies. Handicapped parking spaces are near the clubhouse. Be respectful and do not use them if you do not have a motor vehicle handicapped tag.
- The speed limit is no more than 20km/hr anywhere on club grounds. Safety of children is paramount. Please also note that traffic is one-way only after you enter the complex.
- Tournaments are busy times for coaches and the executive. We will be calling for extra help from house league parents whose children are participating to make sure that our wrap-up tournament operates smoothly.
- Photos will be coordinated this year by Lisa Langdale with Martin Caird at Sandpiper Studios. You will be getting info about team and individual photos after the season gets going.
- Saying thank you to our sponsors goes a long way to building community spirit and good will. Without our sponsors our club would not be as big or run as well as it does. Please, if you have the opportunity, say thank you to the many generous sponsors you will see recognized on jerseys, equipment, notices at the clubhouse and at tournaments.

If you’d like to see the club maintain its current level of success, now is the time to come forward and learn about volunteer opportunities with the club executive. Many of our experienced executive are moving on, as they no longer have children in the club.
Get in touch with any member of the executive to learn more if you want your child/ren to continue to play soccer in Hunter River. Thank you!
To see a list of the executive positions and who currently holds them, please visit our website.
Thank you to our sponsors, volunteers, staff and everyone for their cooperation and respect shown toward the club community. Any questions or concerns, please contact your house league coordinator or any executive member.
We wish everyone a great soccer season filled with fun!
